Hi Her Quarters readers this is Amy’s husband, I’ve given her the night off to watch Ru Paul’s drag race and will be “guest” blogging tonight.
I have been given the opportunity to try out some King of Shaves products and it has been a positive experience. I’m usually the type who just buys whatever is on special at the supermarket to get the job done so it was a bit of a pamper for me. I’ll start off with the Shave Oils, there were two to try the Advanced Silicone Shave Oil Sensitive and the Shave Oil SuperCooling. Not being a connoisseur of these things I only noticed two differences, they both had similar scents but varied in intensity with the SuperCooling oil being slightly milder and the Advanced Silicone came in a pump dispenser. The application was straight forward, I wasn’t quite sure if I had applied enough at first as the suggested 2-3 drops didn’t seem like much, but once I began shaving it went very smoothly. Leaving a manly enough tea tree oil scent was quite pleasant and even the stronger Advanced Oil wasn’t over powering. The biggest surprise from using the oils for the first time is how they left my skin feeling smoother than a baby’s behind. I couldn’t stop touching my cheeks most of the day to see they were still feeling as soft as straight after the shave, and they were. If you’ve never shaved with oil before I would highly recommend giving it a go.
Next up was the Sensitive Shave Gel. Someone at King of Shaves must really like the tea tree scent as it again features in this gel, I’m beginning to agree with them as it’s quite a different scent but very enjoyable. This gel is touted as being for sensitive skin which I don’t have an issue with but I can see why it would help especially with the added Aloe, it went on very smooth and could be worked to a small lather. The shave itself felt much smoother, even in some areas where there is normally a slight pulling sensation at times it felt effortless and smooth. Although it didn’t give me the all day baby bum skin like the oils it gave a very close shave and still left my skin feeling a little moisturised.
Last but not least was the 2 in 1 Shave Cream and Moisturiser. This was probably the hidden gem of the pack I could see it being handy having a shave cream and moisturiser in one product for travelling or perhaps an overnight bag for the boys trips. It has a subtle smell which I’m finding a little hard to describe other than it smells clean. The shaving action was just as good as the previous shave gel, this one doesn’t really produce a lather at all which I could get used to. I gave my entire face a once over to check out the moisturising bit and was quite surprised, I normally get a bit of dry skin on my nose throughout the day but it was taken care of with this little beauty. Don’t tell my wife, but I think I might be using this one every morning.
